INCEPTION
2019
700x1000x2200mm
Installation
foundry sand, metal structure, wooden desk
The installation Inception is a metaphor for the power of words. The word follows an idea and creates reality at the same time.
The material used - foundry sand - is primarily intended to be imprinted with a model - a form that will be materialised by the subsequent pouring of molten metal. By analogy, I see ideas as shapes that take form by imprinting them into words, and the material of reality then materializes them into actions and objects. The surface of the sand is tilted, over time the impression corrodes, loses legibility, and returns to its original pristineness.
